Art Eckman, longtime Supercross and Motocross announcer has passed away at the age of eighty-one. Eckman spent decades as the voice of both Supercross and Motocross on television. Eckman was also the announcer for the weekly Moto World show.
Eckman was born in Salem Oregon in 1942. Eckman’s announcing career spanned more than 55 years. Eckman announced everything from Football, Basketball, Baseball Golf, Moto and many other motorsports. Eckman graduated from Washington State University’s Edward R Murrow College of Communication and began a career working in a local newsroom. Shortly after, Eckman announced basketball for the Houston Rockets doing play-by-play. Eckman continued to announce other sports including Unlimited Hydro Boat racing
Art Eckman is survived by his wife, Donna Haines Eckman, as well as two daughters, Christine Eckman and Kara Eckman Mecke along with Kara’s husband Ralph Mecke and their two children, Alastair and Cedric Mecke.
